The Alquería de Morayma, situated above the banks of the Guadalfeo River in the rural _Alpujarras_, is a conceptual hotel which reflects this region. From the Alquería de Morayma, views open to both the large sloping south side of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park as well as to the Sierra of the Contraviesa, a more arid zone which spills into the Mediterranean sea. The small white Alpujarrenean villages, such as Lobras, Tímar, Nieles, Cádiar, Narila, Alcútar, Juviles and Bérchules, that dot this open landscape have their traditional architectural style reflected in the hotel complex of the Alquería de Morayma. The very name _Alquería_ signifies a small group of interdependent houses, a type of self-sufficient society inside a larger political territory. There are 18 visitors rooms, each constructed in rustic Alpujarrenean style: clay and slate-tiled floors and waist-high baseboards, wooden-beamed ceilings, numerous built-in cabinets, and small private open terraces. |
